NEXT PAID HOLIDAY – FRIDAY, JULY 4TH
is our next paid holiday. You must work Thursday, July 3rd, the day
prior to the holiday, to receive holiday pay or have an excused
absence for that day but you MUST work your previous
scheduled day. Example: If you have July 3rd off with an excused
absence, you STILL MUST WORK July 2nd to get paid for the holiday.
BENEFITS OFFICE HOURS DURING
VACATION AND LAYOFF: Benefits Representative Ron Bills will be
at the union hall during the vacation and the layoff period.
Union hall office hours will be from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
WORKING THE 4th OF JULY? –
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Anyone scheduled to work July 4th still needs
to sign up for the conversion in Human Resources before midnight on
July 4th, otherwise you will be paid holiday pay in your paycheck
along with your weekly wage.
PAYCHECK INFORMATION:
Paychecks for the week ending July 6th will be distributed on Friday
July 11th by the main cafeteria between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM, along
with unemployment information (if needed). Please bring your Ford
identification card or another form of picture identification with
you.
ORDER BANK: As of Monday, June
30th, the Econoline Order Bank was 6,831.

VACATION SHUTDOWN: ALL MEMBERS MUST FILE FOR UNEMPLOYMENT FOR THE
VACATION SHUTDOWN EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE ON VACATION by calling
1.877.644.6562 or by filing online at http://unemployment.ohio.gov.
Important Information for filing your claim is listed below and
complete instructions from the ODJFS are available in Human
Resources and on our web site: www.uawlocal2000.org. Please
follow the instructions carefully.

You must use the claim number
800423 provided by ODJFS for the week your layoff begins
when filing for unemployment.

ODJFS website TWICE or call ODJFS TWICE to receive
benefits.

MEMBERS WHO WILL BE ON PAID VACATION FOR THE ENTIRE TWO (2) WEEKS
VACATION SHUTDOWN AND WHO DO NOT FILE FOR THE MASS LAYOFF ABOVE:
You will not be associated with
the mass layoff, you must follow the instructions below.
If you choose not to file any time
between July 6th and July 12th, it may take longer for benefits to
be received because you are opting not to be part of the mass
layoff.

SUB PAY / UNEMPLOYMENT
DETERMINATION: Sub pay will be automatic for members who have
been laid off any time in the last 52 weeks prior to this layoff
week, and have already received unemployment compensation during
this past year. Members who will be on layoff status and serving
their waiting week will be denied unemployment and must take their
ODJFS Determination Notice to Human Resources to file for sub pay
for your waiting week. Signing up for sub this time will start your
auto sub for one year in case of future layoffs.
SUB PAY: You may sign up in
Human Resources during normal shutdown business hours: 8:00 AM
through 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday ONLY IF IT IS A WAITING
WEEK or if you are paid 10 or 20 hours’ vacation pay.
WAITING WEEK INFORMATION:
Members who were on layoff status and serving their waiting week
will be denied unemployment and must take their ODJFS Determination
Notice to Human Resources to file for sub pay for your waiting week.
The ODJFS no longer mails waiting week notifications. You
must go to the ODJFS web site at
unemployment.ohio.gov, and then go to the menu options on the
left side of the home page under UNEMPLOYED WORKERS. Those who filed
their claim on the internet need to click on EXISTING ACCOUNT LOGIN.
Members who filed over the phone need to click on CREATE A NEW
ACCOUNT. Read the release of information and then click on I AGREE
in the lower left hand corner.
Enter your Social Security number in
the top box and then enter your pin number. Then, log in and go to
the VIEW CORRESPONDENCE inbox. Highlight the circle to the left to
view the UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT PAYMENT, click on the VIEW DETAILS
box, click on OPEN FILE DOWNLOAD, then print your unemployment
benefit payment documents and take BOTH PAGES to the Human
Resources Department to sign up for your sub pay.
MEDICAL LEAVES: If your
medical leave ends during the shutdown, you MUST CLEAR
through Medical and Human Resources at that time and
you will then be put on vacation. If your medical leave expires
during the shutdown, you must provide continued medical leave
coverage from your doctor to the plant Medical Department. If you
DO NOT do so, you will be sent a five (5) day notice. Human
Resources staff will be on duty from 8:00 AM through 3:00 PM during
the shutdown.
INVERSE SENIORITY SIGN UP for
periods of temporary layoff will take place for Skilled Trades,
Plant Services, Material Handling and Executive Board members
beginning Monday August 4th from 8:00 AM through Friday August 8th
until midnight.
LOCAL 2000 ANNUAL PICNIC UPDATE:
Local 2000’s annual picnic will be held at Swings and Things in
Olmsted Township on Sunday, August 17th. Tickets will be sold
Friday, August 8th and Monday, August 11th from 6 AM to 11 PM in the
main cafeteria ONLY. Pricing on the tickets is as follows:
$20.00 for adults (age 6+), $8.00 per child 3 - 5 years old, and
ages 2 and under are free. Tickets include all day admission, plus
an all you can eat picnic buffet and beverages. There is a
10-ticket purchase limit per member.
LOCAL 2000 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR
THE LABOR DAY CELEBRATION: Volunteers are needed for working the
food line the day of the event. If you are interested in
volunteering, please contact Amy Jaynes-Brown, E.R.C., at
440.933.1244 or Linda, our secretary, at the union hall by JULY
3RD at 440.934.3151, extension 21 to sign up. If you leave a
message please leave your name, phone number and shirt size. The
first 100 volunteers will receive a commemorative Labor Day
Celebration t-shirt.
GENFED CREDIT UNION INFORMATION:
The credit union will be open during the vacation period and also
during the layoff at both convenient locations. The Avon Lake office
is located approximately 1000 feet east of Abbe Road at 5382 East
Lake Road in Sheffield Lake and the Baumhart Road branch is located
at 5730 Baumhart Road in Lorain, across from the former Lorain
Assembly Plant. Office hours at the Sheffield Lake office location
are Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, and 2:00 PM to
5:00 PM. Office hours at the Baumhart Road location are Monday
through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Genfed is always accepting new
members.
