NEXT PAID HOLIDAY is Labor Day,
Monday, September 1st. You must return to work on Tuesday,
September 2nd or have an excused absence to receive your holiday
pay. Example: if you have September 2nd and 3rd off with an excused
absence, you still MUST WORK on Thursday, September 4th to get paid
for the holiday.
LABOR DAY CONVERSION: Those
employees who work on Labor Day (September 1st) are eligible to sign
up in Human Resources during the week of September 1st through
September 5th to convert their holiday.
RETIREMENT/INCENTIVE PACKAGE
INFORMATION: The open window period has still not yet been
established. The membership will be given information regarding the
upcoming packages as soon as we receive it.
SHIFT PREFERENCE SIGN-UP: Sign
up for shift preference is Monday, September 8th from 6:00 AM
through Friday, September 12th until midnight in Human Resources.
STANDING COMMITTEES: Please
contact President Tim Donovan at 440.934.3151, extension 22 if you
are interested in being on a Standing Committee. If Tim is not
available, please leave a message on his voice mail including your
full name, phone number and committee you are interested in. As
always, your call will be returned promptly.
OBAMA / BIDEN NOMINATION
ACCEPTANCE GET TOGETHER AT LOCAL 2000 UNION HALL: Thursday,
August 28th at 5:00 PM sodas and snacks will be served to those
attending. Pizza will be served during the acceptance speeches.
Limited seating will be available.
LORAIN COUNTY ORGANIZED LABOR’S
14TH ANNUAL LABOR DAY CELEBRATION & ANTIQUE, CLASSIC AND STREETROD
SHOW TO BE HELD SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 1ST. Plan on attending our
celebration at Black River Landing in Lorain from noon through 8:00
PM. The event is the largest of its kind in the State of Ohio. There
will be continuous music, amusement rides, pony rides, 25¢ hot dogs,
soda, bottled water, chips and more. There will also be many free
giveaways and thousands of dollars in free door prizes, such as a
Disney World trip, a Las Vegas trip, $300.00 gift cards for Giant
Eagle and Heinens, plus much more. Free drawing tickets will be
given away during the event. The drawing will be held at 6:30 PM
sharp. You must be present at the time of the drawing to win door
prizes.
*The Labor Day Committee is asking
attendees of this year’s celebration to bring a non-perishable food
item to the event with them to help feed the needy in Lorain County.
The drop off points for food items will be at the ticket sales
tents.
REMINDER: LOCAL 2000 ANNUAL PICNIC
TICKET SALES: Local 2000’s annual picnic will be held at Swings
and Things in Olmsted Township on Sunday, September 21st. Tickets
will be sold this Friday, August 29th and Tuesday, September 2nd
from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM in the ADMINISTRATION BUILDING LOBBY ONLY.
Pricing on tickets is as follows: $20.00 for adults (age 6+ years
old), $8.00 per child (age 3-5 years old), and age 2 and under are
free. Tickets include all day admission, plus an all you can eat
picnic buffet and beverages. There is a 10-ticket purchase limit
per member.
LOCAL 2000 WOMEN’S COMMITTEE
T-SHIRT SALE: On Friday, August 29th and Tuesday, September 2nd,
Women’s Committee members will be selling their “Local 2000 American
Auto Worker” T-shirts in the administration building lobby. Pricing
is as follows: Sizes small through XL’s are $15.00, 2X’s are $16.00,
3X’s are $17.00 and 4X’s are $18.00.
8TH ANNUAL REGION 2-B TRAPSHOOT:
Region 2-B will be holding their 8th Annual Trapshoot on
Saturday, September 20th at Jaqua’s Trap Club, 900 E. Bigelow
Avenue, Findlay, Ohio starting at 9:00 AM. It is open to all Region
2-B UAW members (active and retired) and spouses only. The entry fee
is $75.00 per shooter. The entry fee includes ammo, targets, prizes
and expense fees. Entry forms are available at the local union hall.
No entries will be accepted after Tuesday, September 5th.
UAW REGION 2-B SCHOLARSHIP:
Applications for the Richard T. Gosser Scholarship Program are
available at the union hall. Applicants must be high school
seniors graduating high school between January 2009 and July 2009.
APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 4:00 PM ON OR BEFORE OCTOBER 15th,
2008. This deadline is firm and no exceptions will be made. We
have had two $10,000 scholarship winners from Local 2000 in the past
two years. Your child could be the next winner!
The 8TH ANNUAL REGION 2-B SPORTING
CLAY SHOOT will be held at the W.R. Hunt Club, 5690 County Road
237, Clyde, Ohio on Saturday, October 11th. It is open to all Region
2-B members (active and retired) and spouses. Shooting times start
at 9:00 AM. Everyone should plan to be there at 8:00 AM (one hour
before) to check in and receive their squad, station and starting
time assignments. There are 6 shooters to a squad. All starting
positions and times will be assigned by W.R. Hunt Club. The Lewis
System will be used to determine the trophy winners. Entry forms
will be accepted on a first come / first serve basis and are
available at the local union hall. No entries will be accepted
past the deadline, which is September 26th.
