Please be sure to stop by the union hall to pick up your retirement watch and pin. Retiree meetings are held on the 1st Thursday of every month at 10:00 AM, unless otherwise indicated. Retirees have a summer picnic in August and Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners in November and December. We don’t have the dates for them yet but if you’re interested in attending and need information, please contact Linda at the union hall one month before the event. NEW MEMBERS: Welcome to UAW Local 2000! Our membership meetings are the 2nd Sunday of each month at 2:30 PM at 3151 Abbe Road, Sheffield Village, OH.  NEXT PAID HOLIDAY: MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY is Monday, January 15, 2024. Please check with your plant committeeperson or steward or refer to your contract for pay eligibility requirements for the holiday.  UPCOMING SPECIAL ELECTION FOR CHAIRPERSON, COMMITTEEPERSONS AND FINANCIAL SECRETARY: Financial Secretary Joe Chaney Jr. retired on January 1, which will leave his position on the Executive Board vacant. A Special Election will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 12:00 PM noon through Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 12:00 PM noon (24 hours). Units 1 (OHAP), 2 (Nurses) and 3 (Leadec/SBM) will vote in the Econoline Room at Ohio Assembly Plant. Units 4 (Source Providers), 5 (Detroit Chassis), 6 (Autokiniton) and RETIREES will vote at UAW Local 2000 Union Hall. A Run-Off Election will be held (if necessary) at the same locations as the Special Election on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 12:00 PM noon until Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 12:00 PM noon (24 hours). Members must present their driver’s license, state ID, plant badge or some other form of picture ID at the polls. EXECUTIVE BOARD OFFICE (ALL UNITS AND RETIREES VOTE FOR EXECUTIVE BOARD OFFICES): Financial Secretary*  *Denotes that each office shall require a majority (50% plus 1) of the votes cast for that office.  ADDRESS CHANGES STILL NEEDED: We recently mailed election notices and many were returned for bad address without a forwarding order. If your address or phone number have changed, please call Linda at 440.934.3151 x0 or email her at linda@uawlocal2000.org to update. The plant does not routinely update the local with address updates so it’s very important that you contact the union hall if you’ve moved.  STRIKE CLOSET ITEMS DONATED: We received many donations for our strike closet leading up to the strike. We took many of the donated items to the Stellantis plant in Streetsboro for their striking members and there were many items left over. This week, we are donating leftover donated items to Valor Home, Veterans Who Care and Blessing House.  GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING: The next General Membership Meeting is Sunday, February 11th at 2:30 PM at UAW Local 2000, 3151 Abbe Road, Sheffield Village. INFORMATION BULLETIN – www.uawlocal2000 – NOVEMBER 15, 2023 OHIO ASSEMBLY PLANT RESULTS OF NATIONAL CONTRACT RATIFICATION: Production: 66% yes, 34% no. Skilled Trades: 76% yes, 24% no. Nurses: 100% yes. Ohio Assembly Plant voted to ratify the tentative agreement but other plants are still holding their ratification votes so the final results will be forthcoming once all the members have voted. ELECTION APPEAL(S) UPDATE: We regret to inform the membership that the election notice for OHAP Chairperson and District Committeepersons that was just mailed out and posted in the plant has been postponed by the International UAW (IUAW) President’s office. The IUAW overturned the results of our first General Election upon appeal and recently issued a directive to re-run it as soon as possible. In the meantime, another appeal has been filed against that decision. The Autokiniton election was also appealed and a directive was issued to re-run their election. Since Autokiniton is a separate unit from OHAP, we obtained the IUAW’s permission to continue forward with the election that was planned for their unit. Please see Autokiniton’s election information directly below: AUTOKINITON ELECTION: Following the UAW International President’s Office decision of appeal, a new election will be held for the office of CHIEF STEWARD at Autokiniton/UAW Local 2000. Below are the candidates’ names and numbers drawn from the original election: DANA OWENS #73 OMAR MIRANDA #74 The election will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 12:00 PM noon until Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 12:00 PM noon (24 hours) at Autokiniton, 1190 Jaycox Road Avon, OH 44011. Please note: Picture ID is required to vote. NEXT PAID HOLIDAYS: Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving – November 23 and 24, 2023. Ohio Assembly Plant will shut down for the Christmas holiday period on Friday, December 22nd at the completion of the 3rd shift and will not resume normal production until Tuesday, January 2nd. Units 3 – 6: If you have questions about what holidays your unit is paid for or about the general eligibility requirements that must be met in order for you to receive holiday pay, please talk with your unit committeeperson or steward. LUNCH WITH SANTA will be held this year at Heritage Presbyterian Church, 515 North Leavitt Road in Amherst on Sunday, December 17th between 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Tickets are $12 each and include admission, meal, picture with Santa and a gift. Tickets will be sold by Women’s Committee members at OHAP and at the union hall through Friday, December 1st. Participation may be picket duty, kitchen duty, strike information classes or other related assignments. You must be in good standing at the time of the strike to receive benefits. INFORMATION BULLETIN                       www.uawlocal2000                      AUGUST 21, 2023 OHIO ASSEMBLY PLANT STRIKE AUTHORIZATION VOTE The Unit 1 Local and National Contracts and the Unit 2 National Contract will expire on September 14th, 2023 at midnight. We are required by the International Union to take a strike vote to authorize both the Local and International Union to strike, if necessary. While we are still in the early stages of UAW / Ford national negotiations, we strongly encourage everyone to continue preparations for a potential strike. WHERE: UAW Local 2000, 3151 Abbe Rd., Sheffield Village, OH WHEN: Tuesday, August 22, 2023 – 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM It is CRITICAL that we have high voter participation for a strike vote, so VOTE YES!! This affects YOU! PLEASE NOTE: In order to receive strike assistance information in the event of a strike, we must have your correct address and phone number. Please update your contact information via email at linda@uawlocal2000.org, phone at 440.934.3151 Ext. 0 to update your records. Once we are on strike, a secure link and code will be available for each member to access the registration page. You will be required to register online so please have this information ready. INFORMATION BULLETIN – JUNE 29, 2023  VACATION SHUTDOWN UNEMPLOYMENT INSTRUCTIONS LAYOFF INSTRUCTIONS FOR MEMBERS WITH LESS THAN 40 HOURS OF VACATION TIME  Please follow the unemployment instructions below carefully. odjfs will no longer BACKDATE applications/claims filed late. if you don’t file on time AND correctly, you won’t be paid. You must call the ODJFS or visit their web page TWICE; once to open your application for benefits and again the following week to claim your week. MEMBERS WITH LESS THAN 24 VACATION HOURS WILL FILE FOR UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS: The mass layoff number is 2300268. You will be laid off for one (1) week. Your last day worked will be 06/30/2023 and your return to work date is 07/10/2023. On Sunday, 07/02/2023, you will open or restart your claim. On Sunday, 07/09/2023, you will file a claim for week ending 07/08/2023. TFTs that started working in January 2023 and prior to will be eligible for holiday pay as long as you’ve met the other requirements for July 3rd and 4th holiday. You must multiply their wage per hour x 16 hours to get the number you need to report for holiday pay. March TFTs and those hired after do not meet the 90 working day criteria that must be met for holiday pay eligibility. PLEASE NOTE: If you have at least one year of seniority, qualify for the holidays and have no vacation time, you will receive short work week pay and won’t need to file for unemployment. Gosser Scholarship Golf Classic Invitational: One foursome is needed from our membership to golf in the Richard T. Gosser Scholarship Invitational on Sunday, July 23rd at the Thunderbird Hills Golf Club in Huron, Ohio. The entry fee for the outing is prepaid. Those interested must bring a list of their team members to the union hall (including team members’ addresses and phone numbers) or email your list to linda@uawlocal2000.org now through Monday, June 27th during normal business hours (8:30 AM to 12:00 PM (noon) and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM).
