History of U.A.W. Local 2000
Ford’s Ohio Assembly Plant (formerly Ohio Truck Plant) was opened in September, 1973.
The original UAW members at this plant were responsible for building and painting the body of the Econoline vans, which were then transported by truck to Lorain Assembly Plant (UAW Local 425) for final assembly.
On August 4, 1976, members voted to become a separate local union and UAW Local 2000 was chartered. Our local retirees’ chapter was chartered on July 22, 1983 and they presently have 2,452 members, many of whom still remain active in our community.
