UAW Region 2-B Fall School – 9-14-25 through 9-19-25 at Black Lake

UAW REGION 2-B FALL SCHOOL The UAW holds Fall School through various regional structures to provide education, training, and leadership development for its members. For example, UAW Region 2-B recently closed its Fall School in September 2025, focusing on strengthening skills and solidarity among members. Fall School is a period of concentrated educational programming for UAW members, often organized by individual UAW regions. The goal is to develop members’ understanding of unionism, build their skills and foster solidarity and leadership within the union.  BENEFITS OF ATTENDING Skill Development: Members learn important skills for collective bargaining, member engagement, and understanding worker rights.  Leadership Growth: Education opportunities help members develop into leaders within their local unions.  Solidarity and Community: These schools bring members together, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.  Increased Union Power: By educating its members, the UAW strengthens its ability to advocate for better contracts and improved quality of life for working families.  Pictured below are UAW Local 2000 members who attended from Ohio Assembly Plant, CLI/Source Providers and Autokiniton this year: Region 2-B Representative and Instructor Pat Wallace Region 2-B Director David Green, OHAP District Committeeperson Aaron Contreras and Region 2-B Assistant Director Rick Smith. Community Service Committee – 8/16/25 Lorain Policemen’s Fundraiser

On August 16th, The UAW Local 2000 Community Service Committee, Amherst VFW, Amherst Junior ROTC and other volunteers held a fundraiser spaghetti dinner for the benefit of the three Lorain policemen who were ambushed and shot (and their families). Over $12,100.00 was raised to give to the Ohio FOP to be disbursed to the officers and their families. We greatly appreciate the help of everyone who stepped up to make this such a successful fundraiser.

Dianna Brezina – President’s Report

Welcome back, I hope everyone had a great vacation shutdown. We’ve had a few functions since our last meeting. Our Community Service Committee, as well as Amherst VFW had an amazing turnout for the fundraiser for the Lorain Police Officers fundraiser. We are sending a check to Ohio FOP for over $12,100. We are grateful for all the help we received, thank you! We also had a great turnout for Labor Fest this year, running out of 2500 hot dogs, 4000 bags of chips and tons of soda and water. Thanks to all who helped from our local! The retirees’ picnic went well and a good time was had by all who attended. Our web page is up and running. We think Linda and our web page designer did a great job. We are always open to suggestions, so if you think of something that’s missing from it, let us know. We’ve been in negotiations with Source Providers (CLI) since June 8 and we have a new tentative agreement with over 20% raises in the next 3 years. There are new guidelines on the trips we send our members on. The guidelines included on the call letters state that a member attending a conference or other UAW functions must be an active member who isn’t on medical leave. Retired members must attend retiree conferences. Also, moving forward the local would like members who go to write a paragraph and submit any pictures taken for our next meeting or to put on our web page. I will be attending UAW/Ford Sub Council during the week of  9/22/25 and if there is anything pertinent to share, I will post it online. First VP Dax McCall will be on for me and he can be reached at 440.934.3151 x 104.  Jay Kiska, Shawn Salmons, Jason Williams and Bill Barnes will also be attending. Jay will be replaced by Jason Wells, Jason Wells will be replaced by Cody Hall. Shawn will be replaced by Eddie Cole. Jason Williams will be replaced by John Bado and Bill Barnes will be replaced by Shawn Newsome.
