FEED THE NEEDY FOOD DISTRIBUTION: Bagging and distribution of the “Feed the Needy” Thanksgiving dinners was done at the union hall on Monday, November 23th. This year over $12,500 was raised, making it possible to feed over 475 families. Much thanks to Amy Jaynes Brown and so many other volunteers and donors that make this such a successful distribution every year.

MARY LEE TUCKER CLOTHE-A-CHILD COLLECTION: $4,130.00 in donations was collected at the gates. Thanks to all who participated and donated.

UNIT 1 Christmas/New Year paid holidays: Ohio Assembly Plant will shut down for the Christmas holiday period on Wednesday, December 23rd (at the completion of the 3rd shift) and will not resume normal production until Monday, January 4th. It is important that you understand the general eligibility rules on Christmas holiday pay:

1. A seniority employee absent without excuse on either the last scheduled working day prior to or the next scheduled working day after the Christmas holiday period shall be ineligible for one of the holidays for which he/she would otherwise be eligible in the holiday period.

2. If an eligible employee misses both the scheduled day before and the scheduled day after, he/she will not be eligible for any Christmas holiday pay.

3. Seniority employees who have gone on sick leave during the workweek prior to or during the workweek in which the holiday(s) falls shall receive pay for such holiday period. A seniority employee who is on sick leave when the holiday(s) occurs, who would return to work following the holiday(s), but during the week in which the holiday(s) falls, shall receive pay for such holiday(s).

UNIT 3 VOITH Christmas/New Year paid holidays are Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. To be eligible for holiday pay, an employee must work their regularly scheduled shift immediately prior to and their regularly scheduled shift following the holiday.

UNIT 1 MEMBERS LAID OFF DURING HOLIDAY PERIOD: If you are receiving holiday pay, you do not need to file for unemployment benefits. If you are not receiving holiday pay, you must file for benefits using mass layoff number 1500769. Please remember, you will be either making two calls or visiting the ODJFS web site TWICE. File online at: http://unemployment.ohio.gov (accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week). If you do not have internet access: Call 1-877-644-6562 (business hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, except holidays). On Sunday, December 27th, open your claim for benefits. On Sunday, January 3rd, claim week ending January 2nd. Do not claim any weeks afterward.

UNION OFFICES CLOSED: UAW Local 2000 and all UAW International and Regional Offices will be closed from Thursday, December 24th through Friday, January 1st and reopen on Monday, January 4th. HUMAN RESOURCES will also be closed throughout the entire Christmas holiday period.

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP AND VOITH UNIT MEETINGS: The next General Membership and Voith Unit Meeting is Sunday, January 10th at 2:30 PM at UAW Local 2000, 3151 Abbe Road, Sheffield Village.
