REMINDER: If you are planning on running for a UAW Local 2000 Union
office, the nomination period ends for nomination drop offs at the union hall
THIS FRIDAY, APRIL 14TH at 5:00 PM. Nominations received by mail
must be postmarked no later than Sunday, April 16th at 11:59 PM.
General Election will be held Tuesday,
May 2, 2017 from 12:00 PM (noon) until Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 12:00 PM
(noon) (24 hours). Units 1 (OHAP), 2 (Nurses) and 3 (Leadec) will vote in
trailers outside the plant near the
main employee entrance off of Abbe Road.
A Run-Off Election will be held (if necessary) at the same locations
as the General Election on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 12:00 PM (noon) until
Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 12:00 PM (noon) (24 hours). Further details will be
communicated in upcoming bulletins and postings.
4 (Source Providers) and 5 (Detroit Chassis Avon) and Retirees will vote at UAW
Local 2000 Union Hall.
NEXT PAID HOLIDAYS for Unit 1 OHAP are Good Friday, April 14th and the Monday following Easter,
April 17th. Unit 1 OHAP members must work Thursday, April 13th and
Tuesday, April 18th or have an excused absence for those days to be
paid for the holiday. The next paid holiday for Unit 3 Leadec (formerly
Voith) members is Good Friday, April 14th. Leadec Unit 3 members must work their regularly scheduled shift prior
to and their regularly scheduled shift following the holiday unless the absence
is due to an approved contractual absence as provided in the agreement. Unit 4
Source Providers will be off Good Friday April 14th (without pay)
and the Monday after Easter with pay but must work Tuesday, April 18th
to be eligible for holiday pay. Unit 5 Detroit Chassis members will not be
working Good Friday or the Monday following Easter. Those members who still
have floating holidays available will be able to request 10 hours pay for Monday.
SHUTDOWN PERIOD: The official two-week
vacation shutdown period has been scheduled for the weeks of July 3rd
and July 10th.

WORKERS MEMORIAL DAY: On Friday, April 28th, President Bill Samples and UAW-CAP President
Jim Slone will be speaking at Workers Memorial Day services being held at the
two local memorial sites dedicated in 1992. Services will be held at the old
courthouse in Elyria at 12:00 PM (noon) and at Lorain City Hall at 5:00 PM in
remembrance of those workers who have suffered illness, injury or who have died
on the job and to renew the fight for workplace safety. We ask active and
retired members to attend either one or both of the events if they are able.
POWERHOUSE MEMORIAL $1,000 SCHOLARSHIP: Applications are being accepted for dependent
children of full time active
