UNIT 1 OHAP UNEMPLOYMENT INFORMATION

PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND CALL THE UNION HALL OR HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. You must file for unemployment online at http://unemployment.ohio.gov or if you do not have internet access, call 1.877.644.6562. As always, if your week ending date is not available by filing via phone or internet, you will have to call your processing center (the number to your center can be found on most correspondence from the ODJFS and in the unemployment handbook) and ask a LIVE PERSON to file it for you. If you have to call your processing center in order to file, let them know that you are filing with them because the correct week ending dates were not available to you when trying to file via phone or their web site. ODJFS business hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, except holidays.

A CREW (DAY SHIFT) will be laid off for TWO WEEKS using Mass Layoff # 1700623. Your last day worked will be 10/20/2017 and your return to work date will be 11/06/2017. You will call to file or file online a total of THREE (3) times. On Sunday, 10/22/2017, you will reopen or file an additional claim. On Sunday, 10/29/2017, you will claim week ending 10/28/2017. On Sunday, 11/05/2017, you will claim week ending 11/04/2017.

If you do not make application and file your claim correctly and within the ODJFS’s defined time period, they will not pay your benefit for the layoff week(s). Appeals for failing to file timely are seldom won and we want to be sure everyone is paid their due benefit. Full details and instructions from the ODJFS are available in human resources and at the union hall. The ODJFS instructions will also be posted on our website at www.uawlocal2000.org.

WAITING WEEK INFORMATION: Unit 1 OHAP members who were on layoff status and serving their waiting week will be denied unemployment. You must go to the ODJFS web site and print your unemployment benefit payment documents showing ZERO amount paid as well as the document under the “Claim Details” section, “View Claim Summary/Payment History” that shows “WW Served” as the most current status and take them to Human Resources to sign up for your SUB pay. If you aren’t able to print your paystub showing ZERO AMOUNT PAID, print ANYTHING from the ODJFS with your Social Security number on it and use that instead. Signing up for SUB this time will start your auto SUB for one year in the event of future layoffs.
