UNEMPLOYMENT INFORMATION FOR TPT/STS AND OCTOBER 2018 IN PROGRESSION EMPLOYEES: If you are a TPT, STS or an October 2018 In-Progression employee you do not have vacation hours to cover you during shutdown, so you will need to file for unemployment online at http://unemployment.ohio.gov or if you do not have internet access, call 1.877.644.6562. ODJFS business hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday, except holidays. Below are the instructions for filing for unemployment:

You will be laid off for ONE (1) WEEK using Mass Layoff # 1900369. Your last day worked is 06/27/2019 and your return to work date is 07/08/2019. Please note: Anyone hired PRIOR to January 1, 2019 WILL receive holiday pay for the July 4th holiday so you must claim the holiday pay when you file for unemployment benefits. To calculate your July 4th holiday pay, multiply TEN (10) hours pay by your hourly pay rate to get your total gross earnings. Anyone hired AFTER January 1, 2019 will not be paid for the July 4th holiday so you WILL NOT claim holiday pay when you file for unemployment benefits.

You will open your application for unemployment on Sunday, June 30, 2019 by calling or using the ODJFS web page (information above) and you will go back to claim your layoff week on Sunday, July 7, 2019. You must file by calling or getting online a total of TWO (2) times on the above listed dates to get your waiting week in or to get paid for the week, if you are eligible.

UAW LOCAL 2000 CEDAR POINT PICNIC IS SUNDAY, AUGUST 4TH. Tickets for Cedar Point, the Cedar Point Shores Water Park and a drink wristband are $42 each for ages 3+ and can be used between August 2nd and August 4th. The picnic, bingo and door prizes will be held at the Lakeside Convention Center between 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM on Sunday, August 4th. A single meal voucher is $15, parking is $12 and all day dining is $34. They must be purchased from the Recreation Committee because they will not be sold at the Cedar Point gate. Tickets will be sold at OHAP on Thursday, June 27th and Thursday, July 18th from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM by the main cafeteria. Please contact Recreation Committee Chairperson Pedro Natal (Leadec), Greg Hamilton in the Chassis Launch Team area, Josh Mellick on nights, Alvin Davis in Skilled Trades or Brooke Jesse at column B32 in Chassis for further information. Tickets will be sold at the union hall one day ONLY: Thursday, July 25th from 1-5 PM.

ANNUAL UAW Region 2-B Richard T. Gosser Scholarship InvitationaL GOLF CLASSIC: One foursome is needed from our membership to golf in Richard T. Gosser Scholarship Invitational on Sunday, July 28th at the Thunderbird Hills Golf Club in Huron, Ohio. The entry fee is prepaid. Those interested must bring in or call in a list of their team members (including team members’ addresses and phone numbers) to the union hall now through Monday, July 8th during normal business hours (8:30 AM to 12:00 PM (noon) and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM). A random drawing will be held on Tuesday, July 9th at 4:00 PM at the union hall for one team to represent Local 2000. Lost time or expenses will not be paid for attending. TEXAS SHOOTOUT SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT: The Recreation Committee’s Texas Shootout Softball Tournament is Saturday, August 24th at Oakwood Park in Lorain at 9:00 AM. The tournament is for UAW Local 2000 members ONLY and teams must work in the same area unless approved by the Recreation Committee. Please submit a 15 person roster (including t-shirt size) by Thursday, August 1st. The cost is $5.00 per player. Contact Pedro Natal, Greg Hamilton, Brooke Jesse, Harold Dennison, Scott Heckmann, Josh Mellick or Alvin Davis for further details and to turn in your roster.

tHREE TWOSOMES NEEDED TO GOLF IN ohio assembly 10th annual golf outing Sunday, August 18th at 8:00 AM at the Fox Creek Golf Club in Lorain. The entry fee is prepaid. Those interested must call or stop by the union hall to turn their teams in now through Monday, August 5th during normal business hours (8:30 AM to 12:00 noon and 1:00 to 5:00 PM). We will need the names, addresses and phone numbers of both members of your team. A random drawing will be held at the union hall on Tuesday, August 6th at 4:00 PM at the union hall for three teams to represent Local 2000. *PLEASE NOTE: The union will sponsor active and retired UAW Local 2000 members ONLY. Lost time or expenses will not be paid for attending.

LOCAL 2000 VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FOR THE ANNUAL LABOR DAY FAMILY CELEBRATION on Sunday, September 1st: Volunteers are needed for setting up, working the food line and cleaning up, all on the day of the event. The first 50 volunteers will receive a free commemorative t-shirt. If you are interested in volunteering for this year’s event, please contact Joe at 440.934.3151, extension 2 to sign up and give Joe your t-shirt size. The deadline for signing up to volunteer and receiving a commemorative t-shirt is Wednesday, June 26th. Please see Linda at the union hall to donate $5 to have your name published in the event program as an individual sponsor. The $5 sponsorships help to fund the festival.

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING: Due to Executive Board action at the June meeting, July and August General Membership meetings are canceled. The next General Membership Meeting is Sunday, September 8, 2019 at 2:30 PM at UAW Local 2000, 3151 Abbe Road, Sheffield Village. Please attend and be informed.
