UNIT 1 OHAP UNEMPLOYMENT INFORMATION: You must file for unemployment online at http://unemployment.ohio.gov or if you do not have internet access, call your processing center number. ODJFS business hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday, except holidays.

B CREW (NIGHT SHIFT): You will be laid off for THREE (3) WEEKS using Mass Layoff # 1800442. Your last day worked will be 10/12/2018 (for unemployment purposes) and your return to work date will be 11/5/2018. You will call to file or file online a total of FOUR (4) times: On Sunday, 10/14/2018, you will reopen or file an additional claim. On Sunday, 10/21/2018, you will file a claim for week ending 10/20/2018. On Sunday, 10/28/2018, you will file a claim for week ending 10/27/2018. On Sunday, 11/04/2018, you will file a claim for week ending 11/03/2018.

A CREW (DAY SHIFT): Due to the Election Day and Veterans Day holidays, you will be paid short work week for the weeks of 11/05/2018 and 11/12/2018. Please do not reopen or file an additional claim until 11/18/2018. You will only be laid off for ONE (1) WEEK using Mass Layoff # 1800443. Your last day worked (for unemployment purposes) will be 11/16/2018 and your return to work date will be 11/26/2018. You will call to file or file online a total of TWO (2) times: On Sunday, 11/18/2018, you will reopen or file an additional claim. On Sunday, 11/25/2018, you will file a claim for week ending 11/24/2018. DO NOT CLAIM THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR HOLIDAY PAY.

PLEASE NOTE: Do not wait until the Saturday following your layoff week to make application for benefits because there is a chance that you may encounter a technical problem that could force you to file your application late. If you do not make application and file your claim correctly and within the ODJFS’s defined time period, they will not pay your benefit for the layoff week(s). Appeals are seldom won and we want to be sure members receive their unemployment benefits.

THE Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive Benefit Spaghetti Dinner IS ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH at Amherst Eagles, 1161 Milan Avenue from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. Adult tickets are $10, senior tickets are $7 and children under 10 are free. Tickets will be sold at the plant by ERC Amy Jaynes Brown, Bobbie Bell, Kelly Knight, Clyde Hescox and Dianna Brezina and they will also be available at the union hall. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and a Chinese raffle. Please bring a non-perishable food item with you to the dinner. Proceeds collected from the spaghetti dinner will benefit the Thanksgiving dinner distribution for those less fortunate in our community. If you would like to donate something for the silent auction, please contact ERC Amy Jaynes-Brown at 440.933.1516. Donated silent auction items must be turned in by Thursday, November 1st to Amy Jaynes Brown at OHAP or to Linda Lynch at UAW Local 2000. ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16, there will be a gate collection AND DURING THE WEEKS OF NOvember 13 & 19TH, THERE WILL BE an in-plant basket raffle. Further details will be communicated at a later date.

UAW LOCAL 2000 WOMENS COMMITTEE TRUNK OR TREAT is Saturday, October 20th from 1 – 3 PM at UAW Local 2000 Union Hall. Tickets are $2 and can be purchased at the plant from committee members Kelly Knight, Sheila Johnson, Bobbie Bell, Theresa Williams, Brooke Jesse, Jim Monday and Amy Jaynes Brown or at the union hall. Committee members are also asking for volunteers to pass out and/or donate candy. There will be games, food, a costume contest and basket raffles. Please dress in your best costume!

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING: The next General Membership Meeting is Sunday, October 14, 2018 at 2:30 PM at UAW Local 2000, 3151 Abbe Road in Sheffield Village. Please attend and be informed.
