TENTATIVE FRIDAYS: Friday, June 24th has been added just in case there is a major loss of production next week. August 5th and August 12th are also tentatively scheduled Fridays.

WILLIAM C. FORD SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: College students who are dependent children of full-time active employees and classified undergraduate sophomores for the fall 2016 term (as determined by their post-secondary institution) may be eligible for a one-time $1500 scholarship. Applications must be completed online at www.scholarsapply.org/wcfordjr/ on or before July 15, 2016. VACATION SHUTDOWN WEEKS: Vacation shutdown period is the weeks of June 27th and July 4th. Union Hall hours during shutdown: The union hall will be open Monday through Friday of the first week (June 27th through July 1st) and Tuesday through Friday of the second week (July 5th through July 9th) during normal business hours, 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM (noon) and 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Limited OHAP Labor Relations schedule during shutdown: Monday, June 27th through Thursday, June 30th – 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM (noon) and Tuesday, July 5th through Thursday, July 7th – 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM (noon).

UAW LOCAL 2000 PICNIC AT CEDAR POINT & SOAK CITY is Sunday, August 7th. Tickets are $38 and include admission to Cedar Point, Soak City and an unlimited drink wristband. Additional drink wristbands are $8 each and parking is $12 per vehicle. Single meal deal vouchers are $14. Tickets are valid for Sunday, August 7th ONLY. Bingo and door prizes will be at the Convention Center between 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM. Tickets will be sold at Ohio Assembly Plant on Thursday, June 23rd and Thursday, July 14th from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM and at the union hall on July 15th, 22nd and 29th from 1:30 – 4:30 PM. LOCAL 2000 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE ANNUAL LABOR DAY FAMILY CELEBRATION: Volunteers are needed for setting up the day of the event, working the food line the day of the event and cleaning up the day after the event. The first 50 volunteers will receive a free commemorative t-shirt. If you are interested in volunteering for this year’s event, please contact Joe at 440.934.3151, extension 2 to sign up and give your t-shirt size. Please see Linda at the union hall to donate $5 to the event and have your name published in the event program as a sponsor.

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS: Due to membership action at the June 12th General Membership meeting, the General Membership meetings in July and August are cancelled. The next General Membership Meeting is Sunday, September 11th at 2:30 PM at UAW Local 2000, 3151 Abbe Road, Sheffield Village.

UNIT 1 OHAP UNEMPLOYMENT INFORMATION: You must file for unemployment online at http://unemployment.ohio.gov or if you do not have internet access, call 1.877.644.6562. ODJFS business hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday, except holidays.

EMPLOYEES WITH 80+ HOURS VACATION: Do not file for unemployment benefits for either week. Eighty (80) hours vacation will be applied toward vacation shutdown.

EMPLOYEES WITH 60 HOURS VACATION: On Sunday, July 3rd and no later than July 8th, open or restart your claim. On Sunday, July 10th, file a claim for week ending July 9th. When you file that claim, you must claim your income from the July 4th holiday, along with your twenty (20) hours vacation. Use MASS LAYOFF # 1600354. Forty (40) hours will be applied to the first week of shutdown. The exact amount to claim when filing for unemployment benefits will be provided by Labor Relations this week. If you do not receive this information by shutdown, please see Labor Relations immediately.

IN PROGRESSION EMPLOYEES: If you have zero (0) vacation hours you file for unemployment benefits for both weeks using MASS LAYOFF # 1600353. On Sunday, June 26th and no later than July 1st, you will open or restart your claim. On Sunday July 3rd, file a claim for week ending July 2nd and on July 10th, you will file a claim for week ending July 9th. You must claim your income from the July 4th holiday. The exact amount to claim when filing for unemployment benefits will be provided to you this week. If you do not receive this information by shutdown, please see Labor Relations immediately.

STS (SHORT TERM SUPPLEMENTAL EMPLOYEES): If you have zero (0) vacation hours you file for unemployment benefits for both weeks using MASS LAYOFF # 1600353. On Sunday, June 26th and no later than July 1st, you will open or restart your claim. On Sunday, July 3rd, file a claim for week ending July 2nd and on Sunday, July 10th, file a claim for week ending July 9th. The exact amount to claim when filing for unemployment benefits will be provided to you this week. If you do not receive this information by shutdown, please see Labor Relations immediately.

EMPLOYEES WITH UP TO 56 HOURS VACATION: You will be provided individualized letters regarding how to file for unemployment benefits and the exact amount to claim as income when filing (including the mass layoff number to use). You must claim the July 4th holiday pay. If you do not receive this information by shutdown, please see Labor Relations immediately.

Do not wait until the Saturday after your layoff week to make application for benefits because there is a chance that you may encounter a technical problem that could force you to file your application late. If you do not make application and file your claim correctly and within the ODJFS’s defined time period, they will not pay your benefit for the layoff week(s).

WAITING WEEK INFORMATION: Members who will be on layoff status and serving their waiting week will be denied unemployment. You must go to the ODJFS web site and print your unemployment benefit payment documents and take both pages to Labor Relations to sign up for your SUB pay. Signing up for SUB this time will start your auto SUB for one year in the event of future.
