UPCOMING PAID HOLIDAYS:

Federal Election Day: Election Day is on Tuesday, November 8th. UNIT 1 OHAP: You must work the day prior to the holiday (Monday, November 7th) and the day following the holiday (Wednesday, November 9th) or have an excused absence to be paid for the holiday. UNIT 3 VOITH: You must work the last regular scheduled day prior to the holiday and the day following the holiday to be paid for it. UNIT 4 SOURCE PROVIDERS: You must work on the nearest scheduled workday, both preceding and following the holiday.

We cannot stress enough how important it is that our membership exercises their right to vote and that we cast our votes for candidates who support our jobs and livelihoods, as well as the overall right of collective bargaining for all workers. You can vote early at your local county board of elections up through Election Day. Please call your county board of elections for further information. Federal Election Day is a paid day off that allows everyone an opportunity to vote. Please exercise this important right!

Veterans Day: Veterans Day is on Friday, November 11th. UNIT 1 OHAP must work Thursday, November 10th or have an excused absence to be paid for the holiday. UNIT 3 VOITH and UNIT 4 SOURCE PROVIDERS must work the last regularly scheduled day prior to the holiday and the day following the holiday to be paid for it.

Thanksgiving: UNIT 1 OHAP have Thanksgiving Day November 24th and the day after Thanksgiving November 25th off but must work Wednesday, November 23th or have an approved absence to be paid for the holiday. UNIT 3 VOITH also has Thanksgiving Day and the day after Thanksgiving off but must work both the day before and the day after the holiday to be paid for it. UNIT 4 SOURCE PROVIDERS has Thanksgiving Day off and must work on the nearest scheduled work day both proceeding and following the holiday to be paid for it.

LUNCH WITH SANTA: The Women’s Committee is sponsoring Lunch with Santa on Sunday, December 11th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at UAW Local 2192 (the old Local 425 union hall), 5300 Baumhart Road in Lorain. Tickets are $10 each and will be sold by Women’s Committee members at the plant through November 18th: In Trim, see Landy Kyzer, Theresa Williamson, Sheila Johnson or Elba Cordova Hughes. In Paint, see Jim Monday. In Chassis, see Andrea Jewells. In H Line on nights, see Arlene Spurlock. Tickets will be sold by Women’s Committee members at UAW Local 2000 union hall on three Fridays ONLY: 11/4/16: 2-6 PM, 11/11: 1-4 PM and 11/18: 11 AM – 12 PM, then 3-6 PM. Please have a list of the child(ren)’s first and last name(s), age(s) and gender(s) when you purchase tickets.

THE Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive Benefit Spaghetti Dinner IS ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH at Amherst Eagles, 1161 Milan Avenue from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. Adult tickets are $10, senior tickets are $7 and children under 10 are free. Tickets will be sold at the plant by ERCs and will also be available at the union hall. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and a Chinese raffle. Please bring a non-perishable food item with you to the dinner. Proceeds collected from the spaghetti dinner will benefit the Thanksgiving dinner distribution for those less fortunate in our community. RAFFLES: During the month of November, there will be an Ohio State basket raffle and a lottery board October 31st – November 4th and a Cleveland Browns basket raffle (includes two tickets) November 7th through November 11th at OHAP. Tickets will be sold on 1st break and at lunch in front of the main cafeteria. There will also be a gate collection on Thursday, November 17th.

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING: The next General Membership Meeting is Sunday, November 13th at 2:30 PM at UAW Local 2000, 3151 Abbe Road, Sheffield Village.
