FEED THE NEEDY GATE COLLECTION: Thanks to all who donated at the gates, $1,281.58 was collected for this great cause!

PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND CALL THE UNION HALL OR HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. You must file for unemployment online at or if you do not have internet access, call 1.877.644.6562. As always, if your week ending date is not available by filing via phone or internet, you will have to call your processing center (the number to your center can be found on most correspondence from the ODJFS and in the unemployment handbook) and ask a LIVE PERSON to file it for you. If you have to call your processing center in order to file, let them know that you are filing with them because the correct week ending dates were not available to you when trying to file via phone or their web site. ODJFS business hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, except holidays.

B CREW (NIGHT SHIFT): DUE TO THE VETERANS DAY HOLIDAY, THE COMPANY IS PAYING YOU SHORT WORK WEEK FOR THE WEEK OF 11/06/2017. Please note: You must have worked the prior week or had 40 or more compensated or available hours in order to be eligible for short work week. **DO NOT REOPEN YOUR CLAIM UNTIL SUNDAY, 11/12/17.** You will only be laid off for ONE WEEK using Mass Layoff # 1700643. Your last day worked (for unemployment purposes) will be 11/10/2017 and your return to work date will be 11/20/2017. You will call to file or file online a total of TWO (2) times: On Sunday, 11/12/2017, you will reopen or file an additional claim. On Sunday, 11/19/2017, you will claim week ending 11/18/2017.

If you do not make application and file your claim correctly and within the ODJFS’s defined time period, they will not pay your benefit for the layoff week(s). Appeals for failing to file timely are seldom won and we want to be sure everyone is paid their due benefit. Full details and instructions from the ODJFS are available in human resources and at the union hall. The ODJFS instructions will also be posted on our website at

WAITING WEEK INFORMATION: Unit 1 OHAP members who were on layoff status and serving their waiting week will be denied unemployment. You must go to the ODJFS web site and print your unemployment benefit payment documents showing ZERO amount paid as well as the document under the “Claim Details” section, “View Claim Summary/Payment History” that shows “WW Served” as the most current status and take them to Human Resources to sign up for your SUB pay. If you aren’t able to print your paystub showing ZERO AMOUNT PAID, print ANYTHING from the ODJFS with your Social Security number on it and use that instead. Signing up for SUB this time will start your auto SUB for one year in the event of future layoffs.
