CLAIMING UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS OVER SHUTDOWN
Employees with 80+ hours vacation
Do not file for Unemployment benefits for either week. Eighty (80) hours of vacation time will be
applied to your Vacation Shutdown.
Employees with 46 – 60 vacation hours
Forty (40) hours will be applied to the first week of Shutdown.
The remaining hours will be applied to the 2nd week of Shutdown.
You will file for Unemployment benefits for the 2nd week of Shutdown using
Mass Layoff #1700459.
o Last Day Worked - 7/7/17
o Return to Work - 7/17/17
The exact amount to claim when filing for UC benefits will be provided to you this week.
If you do not receive this notification before Shutdown, please see Labor Relations immediately.
Employees with 40 hours vacation
Forty (40) hours will be applied to the first week of Shutdown.
You will file for Unemployment benefits for the 2nd week of Shutdown using
Mass Layoff #1700459.
o Last Day Worked - 7/7/17
o Return to Work - 7/17/17
You have no pay to claim for PE 7/15.
Employees with 0 vacation hours
You have 0 vacation hours and will file for Unemployment benefits for BOTH WEEKS using
Mass Layoff #1700460.
If eligible to receive the July 4th Holiday pay you must claim that when you file for Unemployment
(multiply your rate of pay x 10 hours to get the exact amount).
More detailed information regarding filing for Unemployment Benefits will be posted at a
later date. If you do not receive filing instructions before shutdown please contact your local
Union Hall or see Labor Relations immediately.
JULY 4th CONVERSION
The July 4th holiday pay will be automatically converted for employees who have 40 hours of vacation
for the week of July 3, 2017.
Employees that do not want to convert the July 4th holiday must complete the “Option to be Paid” form
(which will be provided to you by Supervision). This form must be submitted by
COB on Thursday, July 6, 2017.
Employees working the week of July 3rd will automatically be paid for the Holiday. Employees preferring to
convert the Holiday must submit a Holiday Conversion request online. Employees can either go to HR
Online and find a quick link on the left hand side of the home page or go to the link itself

Sign up deadline for Holiday Conversion is COB Friday, July7th.
REBALANCE for 2018 (change-over)
The Rebalance period will begin when we return from Shutdown on:
Monday, July 17, 2017 and end on Friday, November 17, 2017.
Your Structure will be meeting with the Company on Monday, June 26, 2017… to review the official
Rebalance plan. We will then confirm with you what operations are going to be potentially impacted. The
Bargaining Team already discussed the contractual obligations that need to be met regarding this process.
No Temporary employees will be used during this period to establish a standard on a job.
Please remember to work at a normal pace…
and involve your area Rep at the point you feel the need.
