RETIRING MEMBERS AND NEW MEMBERS: We would like to thank retiring UAW Local 2000 members for their service and to welcome our new members aboard. Retiring members: Please stop at the union hall to pick up your retirement items once you’ve cleared through the human resources department.

TENTATIVE FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS: The following Fridays and Saturdays are tentatively scheduled for production: April 29 & 30, May 13, May 20, June 3 & 4, June 10, June 17, June 24, July 15 & 16, July 22 & 23, July 29, August 5 & 6, August 12 & 13. As always, the overtime schedule is subject to change.

THE WALK FOR MARCH OF DIMES is Sunday, May 1st at Wade Oval, University Circle, 10820 East Boulevard in Cleveland, Ohio. Registration is at 8:30 AM and the walk begins at 10:00 AM. To volunteer, please contact ERCs Annette Fuller at 933.1382 or Amy Jaynes-Brown at 933.1516. There are also weekly 50/50 raffles being done in the plant and there will be a gate collection at the plant on Thursday, April 28th. Please bring a donation.

LOCAL 2000 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE ANNUAL LABOR DAY FAMILY CELEBRATION: This year’s event is already being planned for Sunday, September 4th. Volunteers are needed for setting up the day of the event, working the food line the day of the event and cleaning up the day after the event. The first 50 volunteers will receive a free commemorative t-shirt. If you are interested in volunteering for this year’s event, please contact Joe at 440.934.3151, extension 2 to sign up and give your t-shirt size. Please see Linda at the union hall to donate $5 to the event and have your name published in the event program as a sponsor.

WORKERS MEMORIAL DAY: On Thursday, April 28th, President Bill Samples and UAW-CAP President Jim Slone will be speaking at Workers Memorial Day services being held at the two local memorial sites dedicated in 1992. Services will be held at the old courthouse in Elyria at 12:00 PM (noon) and at Lorain City Hall at 5:00 PM in remembrance of those workers who have suffered illness, injury or who have died on the job and to renew the fight for workplace safety. We ask active and retired members to attend either one or both of the events if they are able.

LORAIN COUNTY UAW-CAP will be meeting on Thursday, May 5th at 6:00 PM at UAW Local 2000.
NEXT PAID HOLIDAY – MEMORIAL DAY: MONDAY, MAY 30TH: Unit 1 OHAP: Members on the 4-day work schedule will be paid ten (10) hours’ holiday pay. Members on the 5-day work schedule will be paid eight (8) hours’ holiday pay. You must work Tuesday (the day after the holiday) or have a proper excuse to be paid holiday pay. Voith Unit: Members must work their regularly scheduled shift immediately prior to and their regularly scheduled shift following the holiday. Source Providers Unit: To be eligible for holiday pay, an employee must work their regularly scheduled work day both preceding and following the holiday.

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING: Due to our regularly scheduled May General Membership Meeting falling on Mother’s Day, the meeting will be on Sunday, May 15th at 2:30 PM at UAW Local 2000 Union Hall, 3151 Abbe Road, Sheffield Village, Ohio.
