Congratulations to our Newspaper Committee for being awarded 1st Place for Best Commentary in the Vanguard (authored by Editor Ty Granakis) and 2nd Place for Best Web Page by the Midwest Labor Press Association. The work the Newspaper Committee puts out places our local in the spotlight and we are extremely grateful for all that they do for our membership. We are so proud of the work you do!

UNEMPLOYMENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR UPCOMING TLO: File for unemployment online with the instructions below at http://unemployment.ohio.gov or if you do not have internet access, call your processing center (the number is located on correspondence you’ve received from the ODJFS). ODJFS business hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday, except holidays. Below are the instructions for filing for unemployment:

You will file for unemployment benefits using Mass Layoff # 1900533. Your last day worked for unemployment purposes is 09/27/2019 and your PROJECTED return to work date is 01/02/2020. You will open your application for unemployment on Sunday, September 29, 2019 (the Sunday BEFORE your layoff week) by calling or using the ODJFS web page (information above) and you will go back to claim your layoff week (which is week ending October 5, 2019 – do not choose any other date available to claim) on Sunday, October 6, 2019 (the Sunday AFTER your layoff week). You will continue to claim your weeks each Sunday throughout the period of your layoff. We have applied for a work search waiver and we’re currently awaiting their response. If you need assistance with your unemployment, please call or come to the union hall and we’ll be happy to help you. If you do not follow these instructions and file timely, you will not be paid or your waiting week will not be served.

UAW LOCAL 2000 WOMENS COMMITTEE TRUNK OR TREAT is Saturday, October 26th from 1 – 3 PM at UAW Local 2000 Union Hall. Tickets are $2 and can be purchased from committee members or at the union hall. Committee members are also asking for volunteers to pass out and/or donate candy. There will be games, food, a costume contest and basket raffles. Please dress in your best costume!

THE Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive Benefit Spaghetti Dinner IS ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 3RD at Amherst Eagles, 1161 Milan Avenue from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. Adult tickets are $10, senior tickets are $7 and children under 10 are free. Tickets will be sold at the plant by ERC Amy Jaynes Brown, Bobbie Bell, Kelly Knight, Clyde Hescox and Dianna Brezina and they will also be available at the union hall. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and a Chinese raffle. Please bring a non-perishable food item with you to the dinner. All proceeds collected from the spaghetti dinner will benefit the Thanksgiving dinner distribution for those less fortunate in our community. If you would like to donate something for the silent auction, please contact ERC Amy Jaynes-Brown at 440.933.1516. Donated silent auction items must be turned in by Friday, November 1st to Amy Jaynes Brown at OHAP or to Linda Lynch at UAW Local 2000. ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 28TH, there will be a gate collection AND DURING THE WEEKS OF there will ALSO be in-plant basket RAFFLES.

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING: The next General Membership Meeting is Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 2:30 PM at UAW Local 2000, 3151 Abbe Road, Sheffield Village. Please attend and be informed.
