ELECTION COMMITTEE NOMINATIONS: Nominations for a standing Election Committee consisting of nine (9) members shall take place at the February 12th General Membership Meeting, which will start promptly at 2:30 PM. Anyone interested in running for the Election Committee MUST be nominated at the February 12th General Membership Meeting at the local union hall. Nomination acceptance and denial forms will be available at the meeting. If you are nominated, please be sure to fill out either an acceptance or denial form before leaving the meeting. Forms will also be available at the union hall beginning Monday, February 13th and must be completed no later than Friday, February 24th.

**PLEASE NOTE: You cannot run for the Election Committee if you are planning to run for an elected position in the upcoming General Election.

ELECTION COMMITTEE ELECTION will be held at the local union hall at the March 12th General Membership Meeting. Polls will be open from 12:00 PM (noon) to 5:00 PM.

DATE SET FOR GENERAL ELECTION: The General Election will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 12:00 PM (noon) until Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 12:00 PM (noon) (24 hours). The Run-Off Election (if necessary) will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 12:00 PM (noon) until Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 12:00 PM (noon) (24 hours). Further details will be communicated in upcoming bulletins and postings.

MARTIN LUTHER KING HOLIDAY is Monday, January 16th: Unit 1 OHAP – You must work the day after the holiday or have an excused absence for that day to receive holiday pay. Unit 3 Voith – To be eligible for holiday pay, an employee must work their regularly scheduled shift immediately prior to and their regularly scheduled shift following the holiday. Unit 4 Source Providers – To be eligible for holiday pay, an employee must work their nearest scheduled work day both preceding and following the holiday. Unit 5 – Detroit Chassis - To be eligible for holiday pay, the employee must work on the nearest scheduled workday, both preceding and following the holiday.

WOMEN’S COMMITTEE T-SHIRT SALES AND “BASKET OF LOVE” RAFFLE: The Women’s Committee will have order forms for new t-shirts they will be selling on the floor by the end of the week and they’re raffling off a “Basket Full of Love” for Valentine’s Day. The raffle tickets are $1.00 each or six for $5.00 and the winner will be pulled at the February General Membership Meeting.

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING: The next General Membership Meeting is Sunday, February 12th at 2:30 PM at UAW Local 2000, 3151 Abbe Road, Sheffield Village.

A VOTE WILL TAKE PLACE ON A PROPOSED BY-LAW CHANGE:

Article 10 Nominations and Elections, Section 4 – All eligible members of Local 2000, U.A.W., shall stand automatically nominated for:

(A) Any one (1) Local Union Executive Board Office or within their respective Unit, Unit Chairperson, or Unit Bargaining Committeeperson or Unit District Committeeperson/Stewards or other Unit Offices providing they have been a Member in a continuous good standing for a period of one (1) year immediately prior to the deadline date for the acceptance of nominations.

(B) Within their respective Unit, Unit Chairperson, or Unit Bargaining Committeeperson or Unit District Committeeperson/Stewards or other Unit Offices and or any U.A.W. Member transferred into Local 2000 providing they have been a U.A.W. Member in continuous good standing for a period of one (1) year immediately prior to the deadline date for the acceptance of nominations.
