LOCAL 2000 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE ANNUAL LABOR
DAY FAMILY CELEBRATION on Sunday, September 2nd: Volunteers are needed for setting up, working the food line and cleaning
up, all on the day of the event. The first 50 volunteers will receive a free
commemorative t-shirt. If you are interested in volunteering for this year’s
event, please contact Joe at 440.934.3151, extension 2 to sign up and give him
your t-shirt size. The deadline for
signing up to volunteer and receiving a commemorative t-shirt is Wednesday,
June 27th. Please see ERC Amy Jaynes Brown at the plant or
Linda at the union hall to donate $5 to the event and have your name published
in the event program as an individual sponsor. The $5 sponsorships help to fund
2000 CEDAR POINT PICNIC IS SUNDAY, AUGUST 5TH. Tickets
for Cedar Point, the Cedar Point Shores Water Park and a drink wristband are
$41 each for ages 3+ and can be used between August 3rd and August 5th.
The picnic and bingo will be held at the
Lakeside Convention Center between 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM on Sunday, August 5th.
A single meal voucher is $15, parking is $12 and drink wristbands are $8 each (these
must be purchased at OHAP because they will not be sold at the gate). Tickets will be sold at Ohio Assembly Plant
again on Thursday, July 26th from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM by the
main cafeteria and sold at the union hall for one day only on Friday, July
27th from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM.

Richard T. Gosser Scholarship InvitationaL GOLF CLASSIC: One foursome is needed from our membership to golf in Richard T. Gosser
Scholarship Invitational on Sunday, July
29th at the Thunderbird Hills Golf Club in Huron, Ohio. The entry fee for the outing is prepaid.
Those interested must bring a list of their team members (including team members’ addresses and phone numbers) to the
union hall now through Friday, July 6th

UNIT 1 OHAP UNEMPLOYMENT INFORMATION: You must
file for unemployment online at http://unemployment.ohio.gov or if you do not
have internet access, call 1.877.644.6562. ODJFS
business hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Monday – Friday, except holidays. Members with 80 hours+ vacation do
not file for unemployment benefits for either week. Eighty (80) hours vacation
will be applied toward vacation shutdown.
TAKING THE TEMPORARY LAYOFF (TLO): Your last day worked will be 06/22/2018 and your return to work date
is 12/31/2018. File for unemployment
benefits using MASS LAYOFF # 1800275.
On Sunday, June 24th, you
will open or restart your claim. On Sunday,
07/01/2018, you will file a claim for week
ending 06/30/2018. On Sunday, 07/08/2018, you will file a claim for week ending 07/07/2018 and
you must claim 4th of July holiday pay. Continue
filing for benefits weekly throughout your layoff. If you have exhausted your
unemployment benefits, you must do the following: 1) Once logged
into the ODJFS web page, print the MAIN PAGE, which states that “No weekly
claims can currently be filed. You have exhausted your total benefits payable.”
2) Go to the VIEW CLAIM SUMMARY/PAYMENT SUMMARY PAGE and print that out. 3) Go
to VIEW DETERMINATION NOTICES and print out your last paystub. 4) Take all THREE (3) pages to Human Resources
and you will be able to sign up for SUB pay. The company will allow you to
sign SUB cards for the remainder of the month each month, so you won’t have to
take the paperwork in every week. If you have any questions/concerns, please
call President Bill Samples at 440.934.3151, ext. 1. We are in the process of
trying to obtain a Work Search Waiver for the TLOs from the ODJFS.
B CREW (NIGHT SHIFT): You will be laid off for TWO (2) WEEKS using Mass Layoff # 1800264. Your last
day worked will be 06/22/2018 and
your return to work date is 07/09/2018
(for unemployment purposes). The week of 07/09/2018 through 07/15/2018, you will
be paid vacation time, returning to work 07/16/2018. You will call to file or file online a total of THREE (3) times: On
Sunday, 06/24/2018, you will open or
restart your claim. On Sunday,
07/01/2018, you will file a claim for week
ending 06/30/2018. On Sunday, 07/08/2018, you will file a claim for week ending 07/07/2018 and you must claim 4th
of July holiday pay.
A CREW (DAY SHIFT): You will be laid off for TWO (2) WEEKS using Mass Layoff # 1800265. Your last day worked will be 07/06/2018 (for unemployment purposes) and
your return to work date is 07/23/2018.
The week of 07/02/2018 through 07/06/2018, you will be paid vacation time.
You will call to file or file online a
total of THREE (3) times: On Sunday, 07/08/2018, you will reopen or
file an additional claim. On Sunday, 07/15/2018, you will claim week
ending 07/14/2018. On Sunday, 07/22/2018, you will claim week
WITH 40 HOURS OR MORE BUT LESS THAN 80 HOURS VACATION MUST FILE FOR
UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS FOR THE *2ND WEEK: Your last day worked will be 07/06/2018 (for unemployment purposes)

07/08/2018, you will open or restart your claim. On Sunday, 07/15/2018, you will file a claim for week ending 07/14/2018. Some members will have some vacation time
they must claim for that week. You will be provided individualized letters
regarding the exact amount you will need to claim as income when filing. If you do not receive this information by
the last day before shutdown, please go to Human Resources immediately.
STS MEMBERS: Your last
day worked will be 06/29/2018 and
your return to work date is 07/16/2018.
File for unemployment benefits for both weeks using MASS LAYOFF # 1800267. On Sunday, 07/01/2018, you will open or
restart your claim. On Sunday,
07/08/2018, you will file a claim for week
ending 07/07/2018. On Sunday, 07/15/2018, you will file a claim for week ending 07/14/2018. You do not have any holiday or vacation time to claim.
PLEASE NOTE: Do not wait until the Saturday following your layoff week to make
application for benefits because there is a chance that you may encounter a
technical problem that could force you to file your application late. If you do not make application and file your
claim correctly and within the ODJFS’s defined time period, they will not pay
your benefit for the layoff week(s). Appeals are seldom won and we want
to be sure our members receive their unemployment benefits.
WEEK INFORMATION: Unit 1 OHAP members who were on layoff status and
serving their waiting week will be denied unemployment. You must go to the
ODJFS web site and print your unemployment benefit payment documents showing
ZERO amount paid as well as the document under the “Claim Details” section, “View
Claim Summary/Payment History” that shows “WW Served” as the most current
status and take them to Human Resources to sign up for your SUB pay. If you aren’t able to print your paystub
showing ZERO AMOUNT PAID, print ANYTHING from the ODJFS with your Social
Security number on it and use that instead. Signing up for SUB this time
will start your auto SUB for one year in the event of future layoffs.
